1. New life meets resistance · 象曰：雲雷，屯；君子以經綸。
You have started something new. There is energy, but the first obstacle appears before the plan has even found its feet.
你启动了一件新事。动力已经有了，可计划还没站稳，第一个障碍就出现了。
Zhun joins thunder below with water above: movement begins amid rain and danger. The seedling is alive, yet its path is not clear.
屯卦下震上坎：雷动之始，又遇雨水和险阻。幼苗已经活了，前面的路却还不清楚。
This is not a verdict of failure. The Image says to bring tangled threads into order. First make a base; then move.
这不是宣判失败。《象传》说要把纷乱的线索理出头绪。先立根基，再往前走。
2. Pause and establish a center · 磐桓，利居貞，利建侯。
The first line circles and hesitates. In the rain, people stop to anchor one firm post before building the rest.
初九徘徊难进。画里的人先在雨中立稳一根柱子，再想下一步如何建造。
Imagine a new project with five volunteers and no one owning a decision. Agree on one aim, one person to coordinate, and the next workable step.
想象新项目有五位志愿者，却没人负责决定。先定一个目标、一个协调者、一个能够完成的下一步。
The line favors steadiness and establishing leadership. It does not tell you to wait forever; it asks you to make action possible.
爻辞讲守正、建侯，不是叫你永远等待，而是让后续行动有可以依靠的基础。
3. Look before you agree · 屯如邅如，乘馬班如。匪寇婚媾，女子貞不字，十年乃字。
Riders circle outside a doorway. At first they look like raiders; the line says they come seeking marriage. Even so, the woman does not agree at once.
骑马的人在门外徘徊，起初像是盗寇；爻辞说他们其实来求婚。即便如此，女子也没有立刻答应。
In a new venture, a sudden partner may offer money or access. Learn what they want, check whether your aims fit, and allow trust to form.
新项目里，突然出现的伙伴可能带来资金或渠道。先弄清他的意图、目标是否相合，再慢慢建立信任。
The old line's long wait makes timing visible. Do not label everyone an enemy, and do not trade your judgment for relief from uncertainty.
爻辞中漫长的等待，强调时机。不必把每个来者都当敌人，也别为了摆脱不确定就交出判断。
4. Leave the deer · 即鹿無虞，惟入于林中。君子幾，不如舍，往吝。
A hunter sees a deer vanish into dense woods. Without a forester, desire can carry him deeper than his knowledge will take him out.
猎人看着鹿走进密林。没有熟悉地形的向导，追逐的欲望可能把他带得太深。
A new market can look just as tempting. If you lack the facts or the people who know the terrain, stop the chase and learn first.
新市场也可能这样诱人。如果缺少资料，也没有懂当地情况的人，就先停下，补足认识。
Leaving this deer is not abandoning the whole journey. It is refusing one poorly guided move before it becomes an expensive mistake.
舍掉这只鹿，并不是放弃整段旅程，而是避免一个没有向导的决定变成昂贵的错误。
5. Reach across the bridge · 乘馬班如，求婚媾，往吉，無不利。
The riders hesitate again, but this time the line says to seek an alliance. Two people reach across a narrow bridge.
骑马的人再次徘徊，但这一爻说要主动求合。画中的两个人隔着窄桥伸出手。
Once intentions are clear, ask for the help you actually need. Name what each side can contribute, and make a first shared commitment.
意图弄清楚后，就去寻求真正需要的协助。讲明各自能承担什么，先做一个共同的承诺。
Waiting protected line two. Waiting forever would trap line four. The same hesitation requires a different answer when conditions have changed.
等待曾保护六二；若到了六四仍永远等待，就会把自己困住。条件不同，同样的迟疑需要不同的回答。
6. Keep promises small enough to deliver · 屯其膏，小貞吉，大貞凶。
A reservoir has water, yet the broad fields remain dry. One small channel reaches nearby seedlings. This is the line's blocked nourishment.
水库有水，远处的田仍然干。只有一条小渠滋润近处的幼苗，这就是“屯其膏”的处境。
You may have funding or goodwill, but not yet the system to serve everyone. Deliver one small promise reliably before announcing a grand expansion.
你也许有资金或善意，却还没有服务所有人的系统。先兑现一个小承诺，再谈大规模扩张。
Small, steady work can be favorable. A large promise made too soon puts the whole beginning at risk.
小事做稳，可以有利；太早许下宏大承诺，反而会让整个开局陷入危险。
7. Do not keep circling · 乘馬班如，泣血漣如。
At the top, the horses still circle. The traveler is exhausted beside a flooded ravine. The text makes the cost of prolonged difficulty impossible to ignore.
到了上六，马仍在徘徊。行人倒在洪水旁，精力耗尽。爻辞让我们无法忽视困境拖得太久的代价。
If a project repeats the same failed attempt, stop calling sheer endurance a plan. Ask for help, withdraw, or build a different route.
如果项目反复重试同一种失败做法，就别再把硬撑叫作计划。求助、退回，或另辟路径。
The warning is serious, but not a fixed fate. Recognizing the loop is the first step toward leaving it.
警告很严肃，却不是命运判决。看见自己在绕圈，是离开困局的第一步。
8. What needs a foundation first? · 屯：元亨，利貞。勿用有攸往，利建侯。
Zhun is the awkward strength of a beginning. Its lines ask for a base, patient discernment, a guide when the woods are unfamiliar, and a real alliance.
屯卦是开端那股笨拙而真实的力量。六爻提醒我们立根基、耐心辨人、陌生路上找向导，并寻求真正的合作。
It also warns against promises too large for the channels you have, and against staying in a cycle that is already breaking you.
它也提醒我们，不要许下现有能力送达不了的承诺，更不要困在已经耗尽自己的循环里。
