1. Disperse danger, restore connection ·

Wind scatters waves across water. Huan names both dispersion and the release of danger.

Wind breaks up the water's surface. The ancient ritual response creates a common place of orientation.

Imagine a riverside neighborhood as floodwater rises. Families must scatter toward safety, then find a reliable way to reconnect. Separation is a response to danger, not an end in itself.

2. Move before danger grows ·

The danger is still young. A strong horse carries the traveler along higher ground before the flood closes the route.

Maya sees the river climbing the lower steps. She alerts her family and takes the raised route while it is still open, using a dependable rescue vehicle rather than waiting for a dramatic emergency.

The painted strong horse and the modern vehicle serve the same purpose: carrying people out before the route closes. The favorable outcome depends on preparation and timing, not on panic or blind speed.

3. Find sound support ·

The ji is something that bears weight; classical commentary also reads it as support from the first line. The runner finds firm boards and a helping hand.

Downstream, Ben and his father find their street under muddy water. A helper calls from a sturdy raised platform, and they run toward that support instead of following the current at random.

The raised boards and the helper's hand are visible in the picture. They show why the ji matters: regret fades when urgent movement reaches a place that can really bear weight, not simply when people run faster.

4. Look beyond yourself ·

Her bundle is left on the bank as she turns toward an elder and child. The line does not describe a body dissolving; it asks whether concern can extend beyond one's own safety.

Lina reaches the riverbank carrying her own bundle. She notices an elder and a child struggling to board the rescue boat while the water rises around their feet.

She puts the bundle down and helps them into the boat. This is not a demand to neglect oneself forever; in this moment she can make room for someone more exposed. That choice leaves no regret.

5. Open safety to everyone ·

The organizer opens a path for separated groups to reach shared safety. Classical commentary praises the removal of danger, yet treats the hill as a reminder that damaged places and unfinished duties remain.

As water divides the streets, a volunteer coordinator directs separated groups up the hill. She keeps families accounted for while opening more than one safe route, so one narrow path does not trap everyone.

The groups gather on high ground, but the flooded homes remain below. Great good is not the organizer's applause; it is wider safety joined to an honest view of the repair still ahead.

6. Speak clearly, take responsibility ·

A public call reaches those still scattered. The image of sweat evokes the pressure of crisis; the ruler's place carries responsibility for releasing danger.

At the town hall, the incident commander gives one plain update: which roads are closed, where water is, when the next briefing comes.

The old image of sweat is the pressure of crisis; the ruler's place is responsibility. People need a center they can actually answer to, not a decorative title.

7. Keep distance from harm ·

A bandage acknowledges that harm was real. The group puts a bridge and long stretch of ground between themselves and the damaged shore.

A bandaged rescuer is supported across a firm bridge to a clinic beyond the flooded district. Their companions leave the unstable bank behind rather than returning for possessions.

The bandage records real harm. Distance from the damaged shore, continued care, and a route that will not wash out keep the injury from becoming a second crisis. That is how this line reaches no blame.

8. What center can people return to?

The favorable opening comes from dissolving danger, not from letting everything drift apart. The temple marks a shared center; crossing the great river calls for deliberate action.

The aim is not separation for its own sake: once danger is dispersed, a trustworthy center must be rebuilt.

Where in a spreading crisis do you need to move early, and what trusted center should people return to afterward?
