1. Choose a joy you can trust ·

Two joined lakes suggest delight that can be shared. The Image turns this into friends studying and discussing together.

Joined lakes nourish one another. Friends who discuss and practice together can test ideas while strengthening trust; shared learning gives joy a durable form.

At a neighborhood lakeside repair circle, people bring broken lamps, stuck zippers, and questions. They fix, listen, and share skills.

2. Let joy be mutual ·

No one needs to perform for the others. Equal listening and easy conversation make the joy harmonious rather than purchased by favor.

Three neighbors sit at a scratched wooden table between the two ponds. One shows how to rewire a lamp; another holds the screwdriver; a third asks questions.

No one dominates, and the food is just thermos tea and cut apples. They leave with a working lamp and an easy, balanced mood.

3. Earn the smile with trust ·

The returned purse makes trust concrete. Their delight follows an honest act, which gives old regret a reason to fade.

On the footbridge, a cyclist finds a dropped wallet with a rent receipt and library card. She returns it to the owner at the repair circle.

He checks the contents, thanks her, then offers to fix her squeaky brake. Trust becomes concrete, and her old worry about the lost item fades.

4. Question the eager gift ·

Classical commentary reads the arrival as ingratiating pleasure offered from the wrong position. The gift and forced smile are a warning to inspect what the visitor expects in return.

A new visitor arrives with expensive pastries and offers to fund the repair circle's newsletter. The smile is eager.

Then he asks to control the sign-up list and decide who gets tools. The coordinator feels uneasy. Accepting the sweets would mean letting flattery choose the circle's direction.

5. Separate pleasure from pressure ·

Deliberation has not yet brought ease. Classical commentary reads the 'ill' influence as corrupting flattery to be kept apart.

At the planning meeting, the group still feels unsettled. The tool librarian raises an open hand to the eager donor and says, 'Thank you for the pastries, but access stays open to all.' They pin that rule by the door.

Keeping the flattering influence at arm's length brings a relieved laugh, not perfect calm.

6. Trust without losing sight ·

The chest is entrusted just as the receiver pulls away a bridge support. Trust is valuable, but directing it toward someone who strips the shared structure brings danger.

The respected coordinator hands the donated-tool chest key to a charming volunteer. As he accepts it, he smiles and pulls a support beam from the shared footbridge, planning to trade it for scrap.

The danger is not trust itself but trusting someone who quietly strips the common structure.

7. Choose what draws you in · 引兌。

The line gives no explicit good or bad verdict. Someone is invited toward a joyful gathering, but has not yet chosen.

A hesitant adult stands apart at the pond edge. A friend waves from the small study circle under the awning, inviting them to join.

The person has not decided. Tonight's plan is reading poems and fixing a kettle; they can just listen. The line leaves the choice open.

8. Does this joy deepen trust? ·

Joy can open a way, but delight alone is not a guide. Classical commentary warns that pleasing others can turn into flattery.

The final invitation toward joy remains unresolved rather than automatically good or bad.
