Two ways to look at one changing situation.
Both approaches use the eight trigrams and 64 hexagrams. They begin differently and give weight to different clues. Choose the one that fits how you want to explore your question; neither produces a guaranteed answer.

Coins: read the stage
Throw three virtual coins six times, from the bottom line up. Each throw makes a 6, 7, 8 or 9. A 6 or 9 marks a moving line. We begin with the original hexagram, read the moving line at its position, and show a relating hexagram only when something moves. The classical judgment and line text anchor the explanation. This is especially useful for asking, “What stage am I in, and what calls for care now?”
Mei Hua: read the relationship
Our moment-based version uses your local lunar date and two-hour time period to form a hexagram and one moving line. The unchanged trigram is read as the body, the moving trigram as the use. Their Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal or Water relationship is one clue to where support, demand or friction may lie. This is especially useful for asking, “How do I and this situation affect each other?”
For example: “Should I expand my small business now?”
A coin reading would start with the hexagram you actually cast and the text of its moving line: is the image about beginning, meeting resistance, choosing a moment to act or reaching a limit?
A Mei Hua reading would start with the actual body–use relationship: is the situation supporting the subject, demanding resources from it, or creating resistance? It would then compare that relationship with the changed trigram.
The two readings may illuminate different parts of the same decision. Neither can establish market demand, cash flow or the outcome by itself; you still need evidence from life.
How to use the result well
- Ask one specific question and include the facts that matter if you request a personal AI explanation.
- Look at the actual hexagram and moving line first. The words “favourable” or “difficult” depend on the question and conditions, not only the hexagram name.
- Notice what you can change: a decision, a boundary, the pace or the information you still need.
- Return later to compare the reading with what happened. Avoid repeated casts just to obtain a preferred answer.
Two lenses, not a combined score
The approaches share a language of change but use different casting and interpretive rules. YiPhase keeps them separate; it does not average their results into a probability or treat the Mei Hua Five Phases as if they were part of the original coin-line text.
